We started our playoffs for hockey yesterday. We won our quarter final game 5-0. The practice before the game we weren’t trying as hard as we should have been before a playoff game. After our practice we had a meeting in the locker room. One of our captains asked if anyone had anything to say. At first nobody really said anything. Then one person spoke up. After he said something everyone had something to say. For about 10-15 minutes we went around the room listening to what people had to say. The next day we arrived for our game. I knew by just sitting in the locker room that we were going to give it our all. We stepped on to the ice for the first period. When we stepped off the ice after the first period we were up 2-0. We didn’t let up after that. By the end of the second period we were up 4-0. We all felt that we would win the game but we still didn’t let up. At the end of the game we had won 5-0. I think that having the meeting the practice before the game helped us greatly. We finally were able to put together a 45 minute effort that we had struggled to put together the whole season. We might have played better because we were playing for a prize. If we lost our season would have been over. Since we won we play again on Thursday and if we win we will advance to the Sectional Finals.

Congratulations Matt. I hope you win it all.
Have you seen “Facing the Giants”? This movie may give you some inspiration.
very proud of your big play-off win Matt, hoping to ride it all the way. And you looked HUGE in the process. I hope I get to wear #23 on Sunday with Danny still in Pittsburgh. Should fit me ok seeing as it is HUGE.
Love ya, Scott
It was a great game Matt and I enjoyed reading your comments about what the team went through before playing!! Sounds like you guys are playing like a family, which strengthens each and every one of you. Keep up the good work and good luck on Thursday!! We’re going to try and be at your game on Sunday if you win. It’s great watching you play and I’m glad we can get to your games!
