True Colors

Last month I went to a concert (you can read about that here). I had never heard of Vota before but they were playing at the concert and I liked their songs. One of their songs said,

“If you don’t see the real me, you won’t see what mercy has done”

Today I was reading in my bible and I came upon a verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9, and it said,

“I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me”

When I read that verse I remembered that line from the Vota song. We all try to hide our weaknesses and flaws but we shouldn’t. We should show them so everyone can see what God can do through you even with your flaws. Everyone knows that no one is perfect so when we try to act like we are it doesn’t fool many people and it takes a toll on yourself making yourself out to be great when really you are struggling. It can make your struggles tougher to overcome because there will be no one to help you to get through it.

We don’t need to act perfect because no one is. We need to show our flaws because when people see them they will also be able to see what God can do through you with your flaws. They will know that you don’t have to be perfect to have Jesus in your life. We need to show our real selves, our true colors. It is our true colors that make us unique, that make us beautiful so don’t be afraid to let your true colors shine.

  1. You are so very right. It’s our willingness to be vulnerable and show our weaknesses that make us available to be used. Great thoughts. I’m proud of you!!
